Rod Dyer is a legendary figure in West Coast design. His firm has produced award-winning graphics, packaging, posters, marketing campaigns and brand identities for some of the highest profile corporations in the country. Brand I.D.s include Grammercy Pictures, Maverick Entertainment, MCA Universal, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures High Definition, Big Ticket Television, Disney Interactive, Sony Surround Sound, Ameristar Casinos/Las Vegas, Hollywood & Highland Mall, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, California Pizza Kitchens, Koo Koo Roo, Chin Chin Restaurants, The Cannery/Newport Beach, Newport Beach Restaurant Association, Marina Del Rey Chamber of Commerce, the law firm O’Melvany & Myers, and many more.
He has designed numerous movie one-sheet posters, title treatments and marketing campaigns, and his own signature line of neckties, leather goods and jewelry. Rod was also Graphic Design Director for Charles Eames Design Office on projects for Herman Miller Furniture and the Mathematica Exhibits at the Museum of Science & Industry/LA. He is also a restaurateur and was owner/host of a popular entertainment industry restaurant, Pané e Vino Trattoria, whose investors included Bruce Willis, Michael Mann, Steve Tisch and Paul Marciano/Guess?.
Rod has won awards year after year and has been featured in design periodicals like Graphis, Print, How Magazine, NY Art Directors Club, LA Art Directors Club, AIGA, and more. His work continues to break new creative ground, as demonstrated in a unique range of wrought iron furniture and a popular collection of stylized pens, distributed worldwide through Acme Studios. He has also published a series of collector’s books including The Golden Age of Matchbook Art, Fit To Be Tied, Coast To Coast, Disney Don’s Dogtags, and a children’s book, Who Likes The Rain? Rod is an instructor at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, where he teaches Design and Entertainment Advertising.
